about

We wrote this one when Scotland was arguing over the issue of gay marriage, a subject that brought all kinds of unpleasantness out of the woodwork. Thankfully as a country we're not chaining up the playpark swings on Sundays any more, but there's still a Thou Shalt Not Have Fun attitude among some of our more conservative folk. This song is really just us going "bollocks!" to that in a slinky seventies style.

lyrics

It's not a crime to do things differently
to cross the line
if it makes you happy
don't let insufferable fools in their pubs and their pews
and the words that they use
get their hooks into you
oh no
no, no
let it go

We don't have much time
so let's not waste it
there's a feast of life
let's go out and taste it
don't let churches and schools and their rituals and rules
tell you what to do
make a prison for you
oh no
no, no
let it go

it's not a crime to do things differently
it's not a crime to be happy
